Ingredients

For the fruit layer
  • 2 cups strawberries sliced
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 2 kiwis peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup mango or pineapple pieces optional
For the cream or pudding layer (choose one)
  • 2 cups vanilla pudding or Greek yogurt with maple syrup, or homemade custard
For the cake layer (choose one)
  • 3 cups cubed pound cake or sponge cake or angel food cake
For topping
  • 2 cups whipped cream
  • fresh fruit for garnish

Equipment

  • Trifle Bowl or Glass Dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Knife

Method

  1. Wash and dry all fruit thoroughly to avoid excess moisture. Slice strawberries and chop any larger fruit such as mango or pineapple. Set aside in separate bowls.
  2. Prepare the cream layer using vanilla pudding, custard, or Greek yogurt mixed with maple syrup. Whisk until smooth and set aside.
  3. Cut the cake into bite-sized cubes. This helps the cake absorb flavor without becoming soggy.
  4. Begin assembling the trifle: start with cake cubes at the bottom, followed by cream or pudding, then a layer of mixed fruit. Repeat the layers until the bowl is full.
  5. Top with whipped cream and decorate with fresh berries or kiwi slices for a vibrant finish.
  6. Chill for at least one hour before serving to allow the layers to settle and flavors to blend.

Notes

You can make this dessert even lighter by choosing angel food cake and Greek yogurt as your layers. Feel free to use seasonal fruits and play with the layering for beautiful presentation.
